During November and December 2017, Age Friendly Island Public Forums will be running across the Island. Open to islanders over 50 years of age.

The agenda for this round will focus on the work to redesign Acute (hospital based) Services – part of the ongoing work to implement the My Life a Full Life new model of care on the Island. The forums will be an opportunity to take part in a workshop to contribute to the discussions about the redesign of acute (hospital based) services to ensure that they provide safe, accessible quality care for Island residents that is both affordable and sustainable. These services include: Acute medicine, Urology, Anaesthetics, ENT (ear, nose and throat surgery), Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Radiology, General Surgery, Specialist Medicine, Ophthalmology and Haematology.
– Mark Pugh: Consultant Rheumatologist/Research and Development Lead, Isle of Wight NHS Trust will be presenting at the forum on the 5th December, 10.30am – 12.30pm, Riverside Centre, Newport
– Steve Parker: Interim Medical Director, Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Clinical Lead for the Acute Services Redesign will be present at the forum on the 7th December, 10.00am – 12.00pm, at West Wight Sports Centre, Freshwater
There will also an opportunity to reflect on how the forums are progressing. Feedback will support planning of forums for 2018.
