UK Pride Opera Festival 15-19th July

Dear friends of Project:Opera,

Programmes for our Opera festival in July are almost complete and it is looking very exciting!

SUNDAY 15th JULY, at 7pm, we will open UK Pride fringe festival with the first of three concerts as part of UK Pride Opera Festival 2018, at Freshwater Memorial Hall.

We have entitled this event ‘Casanova’s ball’ and it will be a medley of fun and exciting arias and ensembles from Don Giovanni, Le Nozze di Figaro, Die Fliedermaus, Tales of Hoffmann and more.

Ticket prices: £15 standard, £10 concessions, £5 children.

TUESDAY 17th JULY, 7pm, it will be Baroque at Barton Manor.

A luscious evening of music by Monteverdi, Handel and Purcell, with Angela Pascale on the piano and La Folie Baroque Consort to accompany arias and ensembles such as Il Lamento della Ninfa, ‘Come, come, ye sons of art’, ‘Sound the trumpet’, ‘Strike the viol’ and Rule Britannia, amongst others.

Tickets will include a light meal served during the interval at the Manor’s café’: £30 standard, £25 concessions.

THURSDAY 19th JULY, 7pm, at Quay Arts, Newport, will be the final evening of the festival and our piece de resistence: Viva Verdi!

Pianist Angela Pascale, musical director of the Festival della Valle d’Istria and repetiteur at the Italian branch of the Royal Ballet School, will accompany 5 singers:

Annalisa Vaughan will be Aida, Violetta and Gilda, Clarice Williams will be Amneris and Azucena, Paul Featherstone will be Alfredo and Radames and our two Bass-Baritones Ian Wilson-Pope and Robert-John Edwards will provide rich bass tones for our inquisitor, Banquo and Rigoletto, amongst others.

Titles will include ‘Le minacce e i fieri accenti’ and ‘Rataplan’ from The force of Destiny, ‘Il grande inquisitor’ and ‘La canzon del velo’ from Don Carlo, ‘Ritorna vincitor’ and ‘Gia’ i sacerdoti’ from Aida, Banquo’s aria, ‘Stride la vampa’ and still more!

Tickets available from Quay Arts at or at the door, but book early to avoid disappointment.

All three venues are indoors and have limited seats available, therefore we recommend booking in advance.

Project:Opera will donate 25% of profits from this festival to Isle of Wight LGBT Pride, supporting the community through inclusive events.
